In MMA, one man’s misfortune is another’s big chance, and with an injured rib forcing Ryo Chonan out of June 5th’s UFC 85 card at the O2 Arena in London, England, newcomer Kevin Burns will make his Octagon debut against veteran Roan Carneiro in a welterweight bout.

Des Moines, Iowa’s Burns comes to the UFC with an impressive 6-1 record, with none of his victories going the distance. He will be tested though by Brazilian standout Carneiro.

“He is an extremely tough opponent with great wrestling skills and top positioning,” said Burns. “He is definitely looking to take his fights to the ground and look for the submission. He has also fought some of the toughest in the world.”

Carneiro (12-6), a member of American Top Team, is coming off a second round TKO of Tony DeSouza last December, and he is eager to make it two in a row on June 5th.

“I’ve got to crush this guy,” said ‘Jucao’. “I will show my stand up against him and bring one nice fight for my fans in Europe.”
